WHAT IS A SUMP TANK?

A Sump Tank is an industrial storage tank or pit used to collect, settle, and temporarily store liquids, such as coolant, slurry, wastewater, oil-water mix, or filtrate, before they are pumped, filtered, or recirculated. It plays a key role in liquid handling and coolant recovery systems.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Liquid (e.g., dirty coolant, water, slurry) flows by gravity into the sump tank.
The tank allows heavier particles to settle (sedimentation zone).
Liquid may pass through baffles, strainers, or mesh filters.
Cleaned or semi-cleaned fluid is pumped out using a submerged or external pump.
Oil skimmer or filter units can be mounted to further separate oil and solid impurities.
